Grounding yourself and opening the energy centres:
- Sit comfortably, with your back straight, either on a chair or crossed legged on the floor. Close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply, counting backwards from 10 to 1, until you feel deeply relaxed.
- Imagine a long cord attached to the base of your spine and extending down through the floor and way down into the earth. Now imagine the energy of the earth flowing up through this cord (and up through the soles of your feet, if you are sitting in a chair) flowing up through all parts of your body, and out through the top of your head. Visualise this energy going down the right side of your body and coming up the left side of your body. This is in an anticlockwise direction. Picture this until you feel the flow well established.
- Now imagine that there is a glowing sphere of golden light surrounding the top of your head. Breathe deeply and slowly in and out, five times. As you breathe out each time, feel that you are exhaling the burnt-out energy, and when breathing in, you are inhaling the pure energy. At the same time, keep your attention on the sphere of light, feeling it radiate from the top of your head.
- Now allow your attention to move down to the centre of the throat. Imagine a golden sphere of light emanating from your throat area. Breathe slowly in and out five times, with your attention on the light.
- Allow your attention to move down to the centre of your chest. Once again, imagine the golden light radiating from the centre of your chest. Again, five deep breaths, as you feel the energy expand more and more.
- Now put your attention on your solar plexus. Visualise the sphere of golden light all around your mid-section. Breathe into it five times.
- Now visualise the light glowing in and around your pelvic area. Again, five deep breaths, feeling the light energy radiating and expanding.
- Now visualise the sphere of golden light around your feet and breathe into it five times.
- Visualise your six spheres of light glowing at once, so that your body is like a strand of jewels radiating energy.
- Breathe deeply. As you exhale, imagine this energy flowing down the left side of your body, and as you inhale, the energy flowing up along the right side of your body. This is the clockwise direction. Imagine the earth energy, which is flowing in an anticlockwise direction, so that as you inhale, the earth energy from the left and the cosmos energy from the right are flowing upward to the top of your head. Feel both these flows going in different directions, and feel the energy going down your body as you exhale. Circulate the flow three times.
Relaxing, Energising and Exhilarating

- Then, visualise this flow of energy in front of your body and behind your body, simultaneously. As you inhale, feel it flowing up, and as you exhale, feel it flowing down. Circulate the flow in this direction three times.
- Now imagine that the energy is gathering at your feet, and let it flow slowly through the centre of your body from your feet to your head, radiating from the top of your head like a fountain of light, then flowing back down from the outside of your body to your feet. Repeat this several times, as long as you wish.
When you come out of this meditation, you will feel relaxed, energised and exhilarated.
